Why the Valley Life
Is Tough on Your Car

Redlynch backs right onto the rainforest and the hills — it's a beautiful spot, but between the red dirt, the damp and the humidity in that valley air, your car takes a fair bit of punishment.

1

Red Dirt and Mud Off the Tracks

A lot of Redlynch cars actually get used off the bitumen — up the hill roads and bush tracks. That red dirt and mud gets into the paint, the door rubbers, the wheel arches, and under the car. A proper decontamination wash pulls it out of places a driveway hose never reaches.

2

Valley Humidity and Interior Mould

The valley air stays damp, and if a car gets wet and stays that way — wet towels, muddy boots, a leaky seal — mould can take hold inside faster than you'd expect. It's one of the more common things we see in cars from this side of the hills. An interior detail sorts it out properly.

3

Rainforest Fallout on the Paint

Carports and driveways under tree cover cop a lot — sap, bird mess and leaf tannins all settle on the duco. In the heat and humidity they etch into the clear coat if they're left to sit. The sooner they come off, the less damage they do.

4

Wet Season Damp That Lingers

The wet season hits the western suburbs hard. Everything stays wet longer in the valley, water spots bake on and the interior never quite dries out between downpours. A bit of protection on the paint and a thorough dry-out inside keeps on top of it.

Redlynch Car Detailing
Questions

Straight answers — no technical jargon.

Yep, absolutely. We're based at our Trinity Beach shop but we run mobile across Cairns including Redlynch and the western suburbs — no travel surcharge. You can drop the car to us on the coast if that's easier, or we come to your driveway. Whichever suits.

Mostly the red dirt and the valley humidity. Cars out this way tend to actually get used off-road — bush tracks, hill roads — and that dirt works its way into the paint and under the car in a way a regular hose-down doesn't shift. Add the damp that sits in the valley through the wet season and you've got a car that needs a bit more care than one sitting in a sealed suburban driveway.

Every car's a bit different, so we'd rather give you a real number than a guess. As a rough guide, an interior detail starts at $275, exterior from $325, and a full detail from $599. Ceramic coating starts at $1,000 for a new car. Give us a quick call and we'll sort an exact price for yours.

Honestly, it depends. Ceramic is brilliant at shedding mud and making the car easier to clean — that's a real benefit if you're on the dirt regularly. But if the paint's got scratches and chips from the tracks, coating over them just locks them in. We'd want to look at it first and tell you whether correction makes sense before coating, or whether a simpler protection is the right call. We'll be straight with you either way.

Usually, yes. A musty or mouldy smell in the cabin is pretty common in valley cars — if the interior's been left damp after rain, wet gear, or muddy boots over time, mould can get into the carpets and seats. An interior detail includes a proper extraction, surface treatment and odour work. Most of the time it sorts it out fully. We'll let you know before we start if we think the car needs anything beyond what a standard interior covers.
