Courtesy car terms
While your car is with us, you can borrow our courtesy car for free. It's by request only and has to be booked in advance, so ask for it when you book your job. Taking the car means you agree to these terms.
Booking it
- Ask when you book. We only have a limited number of courtesy cars, so they go to whoever books first.
- It's yours for as long as your car is with us. You pick it up when you drop yours off, and bring it back when you collect yours.
- If it isn't available for any reason, we'll tell you before your booking.
Who can drive it
- You need a current, full driver licence (not a learner or provisional licence), and you need to be 21 or older.
- Bring your licence when you pick the car up. We'll take a photo of it.
- Only you can drive it, plus anyone else whose licence we've seen and noted when you pick it up.
- Never drive it over the legal alcohol limit or affected by drugs.
When you pick it up
We'll walk around the car with you and note any marks it already has, and how much fuel is in it. That way neither of us gets blamed for something that was already there.
While you have it
- No smoking or vaping.
- No pets unless you've asked us first.
- Sealed roads only. No beach driving, off-road driving or towing.
- No rideshare, deliveries or other paid driving.
- Keep it local. It's for getting around Cairns while yours is with us, not for a road trip.
- Lock it and take the key with you whenever you leave it.
Bringing it back
- Bring it back with the same amount of fuel it went out with. If it's lower, we'll charge you for the fuel to top it up.
- Bring it back about as clean as you got it. If it needs more than a normal clean, like sand, pet hair or smoke, we'll charge a cleaning fee and tell you the amount first.
- Bring it back when you collect your car, unless we've agreed another time.
Fines
Any fines while the car is with you, like speeding, red light camera or parking fines, are yours. We'll nominate you as the driver, so the fine and any demerit points go to you.
If something goes wrong
- Ring us straight away on 0468 077 474.
- If you have an accident, check everyone's safe and call 000 if anyone's hurt. Swap details with the other driver, take photos, and don't admit fault.
- If a warning light comes on or it breaks down, pull over somewhere safe and ring us. Don't keep driving it.
- The car is insured. If it's damaged or stolen while you have it, you pay the insurance excess. We'll tell you the amount before you drive away.
- You pay the full cost of any damage the insurance won't cover, for example if someone we haven't approved was driving, the driver was over the limit, or the car was used in a way these terms rule out.
