Every Part Is
Exposed Up Here

Cars are mostly flat panels — bikes are the opposite. Chrome exhausts, spokes, brake calipers, engine fins, all the little fasteners and brackets — everything's out in the open, and up here the salt air and humidity get into all of it. Chrome that looks fine in March can be pitting by June if it's not protected.

I'll be honest with you: we don't run bikes through any kind of machine process. It's all done by hand, because that's the only way to get into the nooks without pushing water into places it shouldn't go — electrics, bearings, air intakes. We take it slow and work section by section, if that makes sense.

What we actually do on a bike

  • Hand wash only — a careful hand wash with bike-safe products, dried by hand. No pressure washer near the electrics or wheel bearings.
  • Chrome and metal polished — exhausts, forks, engine covers, handlebars. We work through any surface rust or tarnish before it bites in deeper.
  • Paint detailed — tank, fairings and guards washed, clayed if needed, and finished with a protective seal.
  • Spokes and wheels — brake dust, road grime and any salt buildup cleaned off the rims and between spokes.
  • Intricate bits done properly — fins, brackets, switches and the bits that are easy to skip. We don't skip them.

Salt Air & Humidity
Don't Forgive Chrome

Bikes cop the Cairns climate harder than cars do — more exposed metal, more chrome, less shelter. Here's what your bike is up against:

Salt Air & Chrome

Near the coast, microscopic salt settles on every surface every day. On chrome exhausts, forks and engine covers it starts pitting quietly — you often don't notice until it's already into the metal. Regular cleaning and a protective seal slows that down significantly.

Humidity & Surface Rust

Our humidity is high enough that even stainless and chrome can develop surface rust between washes. Bolts, brackets and any bare metal are the first to go. Keeping them clean and protected gives them a much better run.

UV on Paint & Plastics

Fairings, guards and painted tanks fade and oxidise faster up here than almost anywhere in Australia. A paint sealant after a proper clean gives real UV resistance and keeps the colour looking right for longer.

1

Pre-Rinse & Assessment

We rinse the bike gently by hand — no pressure washer — and have a proper look at what we're dealing with: chrome condition, paint, any surface rust, and where the grime is hiding. This is where we'll flag anything worth discussing before we start.

2

Hand Wash

A full hand wash with bike-safe products, working section by section. Careful around the electrics, intakes, wheel bearings and anywhere water shouldn't sit. We dry as we go rather than letting water pool in the crevices.

3

Chrome & Metal Polish

Exhausts, forks, engine covers, handlebars and fasteners cleaned and polished by hand. Any surface tarnish or early rust treated before it has a chance to go deeper. This is the step that takes the most time — there's no shortcut through intricate parts.

4

Paint & Plastics

Tank, fairings and guards cleaned, and a clay if the paint needs it. A protective sealant applied by hand to guard against UV and salt. We finish the plastics so they're not dull or greasy — just clean.

5

Wheels, Spokes & Final Check

Rims and spokes cleaned of brake dust and salt buildup. One last walk around the whole bike under proper light to make sure nothing got missed, and we'll point out anything we noticed along the way.

Motorcycle Detailing Pricing in Cairns

Motorcycle Detailing Questions

Straight answers about motorcycle detailing in Cairns — no jargon.

We don't set a flat rate for bikes — the type of bike, how much chrome, what condition it's in, and whether there's surface rust to deal with all change how long the job takes. We'll give you an honest quote after a quick conversation about what you've got, GST included.

No. Pressure washers push water into places it shouldn't go on a bike — wheel bearings, electrics, air intakes. We hand wash only, and we dry as we go rather than letting water pool in the crevices. It takes longer, but it's the right way to do it.

Depends on how far it's gone. Surface tarnish and early rust we can work through and protect so it doesn't progress. If it's already pitted deeply into the metal, we'll tell you honestly what's achievable and what isn't — there's no point promising something we can't deliver.

Up here, a wash and protect every few months is a reasonable baseline — the salt air and humidity don't let up. If you ride near the water regularly or your chrome is showing early tarnish, a bit more often makes sense. We'll tell you honestly when you don't need it yet.

Both. You can bring it to our shop at Trinity Beach, or we'll come to you. Either way works — just let us know what suits you when you get in touch.

Road bikes, cruisers, adventure bikes — yes. Very intricate bikes with a lot of chrome and hard-to-reach parts just take longer, which is part of why we quote rather than set a flat rate. If you're not sure, give us a brief description of your bike and we'll let you know.
