Ceramic coating warranty
Every ceramic coating we apply comes with a 9-year warranty from us, Posh Wash Pty Ltd. When you pick the car up you get a warranty card in your name, with your warranty number, your car and the date the coating went on. These are the terms on that card.
The short version
- Covered: the coating lifting, flaking or peeling off the paint, or breaking down early in normal use.
- To keep it valid: hand wash the car at least once a month, get bird and bat droppings and tree sap off within 48 hours, never take it through an automatic car wash, and don't put wax, polish or another coating over it.
- Not covered: stone chips, scratches, accidents, and marks from anything left sitting on the paint.
- Claiming: email us within 14 days of noticing a problem, with photos, then bring the car in. If the coating has failed, we re-apply it for free.
- No annual service needed. You don't have to buy anything else from us to keep the warranty valid.
The full terms below are what counts. If anything isn't clear, ring Grace on 0468 077 474.
1. What this warranty covers
Subject to the conditions below, Posh Wash Pty Ltd warrants that for the warranty period shown on your warranty card, the ceramic coating applied to the exterior painted surfaces of your vehicle will not fail through loss of adhesion, meaning the coating lifting, flaking or delaminating from the clear coat, or through premature breakdown of the coating in normal use where the vehicle has been maintained as these terms require.
This warranty covers the coating. It does not warrant the paint underneath it, and it does not make the vehicle immune to damage. A ceramic coating is a sacrificial protective layer that makes the car far easier to keep and far more resistant to the weather. It is not a force field, and it does not remove the need to wash and look after the vehicle.
2. Conditions of cover
These are conditions, not suggestions. Cover depends on all of them being met continuously for the whole warranty period. They are the same things we would do to our own cars, and they are what the coating needs to keep performing.
- Wash the vehicle regularly. Ideally every 14 days, and at least once a month. Wash more often if it lives near the ocean or is parked outdoors, since salt is the biggest cause of premature coating failure in North Queensland.
- When you wash it, use a pH neutral shampoo, two buckets with grit guards and a clean microfibre mitt, out of direct sun.
- Remove bird droppings, bat droppings, insect remains, tree sap, fuel and any other spill within 48 hours of them appearing. These are acidic. Left on paint, especially in the sun, they will etch through any coating on the market. This is the single most common cause of damage we see and it is entirely preventable.
- Do not use automatic car washes of any kind, including brush, touchless and laser. Brush washes drag grit from every car ahead of you across the panels. Touchless and laser washes clean without touching the car by using strongly acidic chemicals, which strip and break down the coating. Hand wash only.
- Do not apply wax, polish, sealant, compound, glaze or any other coating over the treated surfaces.
- Do not machine polish, cut or abrade the coated surfaces. Only Posh Wash Pty Ltd may carry out corrective work on them.
- If pressure washing, stay at least 300 mm from the surface and do not use a turbo or rotary nozzle.
- Keep the vehicle garaged or under cover where practical.
- Keep what records you reasonably can, such as service receipts and dated photographs. They help us assess a claim quickly if you ever need to make one.
3. What is not covered
- Etching, staining, marking or dulling caused by any substance left on the surface, including bird and bat droppings, insects, tree sap, industrial fallout, overspray, cement and salt. Removed within 48 hours as required above, these will not mark the coating. Left longer, particularly in direct sun, they will, and that is not a failure of the coating.
- Water spotting and mineral deposits, including from bore water, tank water, sprinklers, and water left to dry on the surface or dried in direct sun.
- Any damage or deterioration arising from a failure to meet the conditions of cover above.
- Collision, accident, fire, flood, hail, storm, stone chips, road debris, vandalism, theft and animal damage.
- Rust and corrosion, and any pre-existing paint defect, previous repair, respray or manufacturing fault, whether or not it was visible at the time of application.
- Damage from man made chemicals, including road tar, brake fluid, fuel, diesel, solvents, degreasers, wheel cleaners and strongly acidic or alkaline products.
- Mechanical and abrasive damage, including scratches, swirl marks, marring, and damage caused by incorrect washing or drying technique.
- Any surface not treated at the time of application, including glass, plastics, rubber, wheels, brake callipers and interior surfaces, unless your warranty card lists them as covered.
- Vehicles used commercially, including rideshare, taxi, courier, hire and fleet use, and vehicles used on race tracks, off road, or regularly on unsealed roads.
- Normal wear, and any gradual reduction in gloss or water behaviour consistent with the age of the coating and the conditions the vehicle is used in.
4. What voids this warranty
- Applying any wax, polish, compound, sealant or other coating over the protected surfaces.
- Machine polishing, cutting or abrading the coated surfaces by anyone other than Posh Wash Pty Ltd.
- Being unable to show that the vehicle has been maintained as these terms require, when a claim is made.
- Any use of an automatic car wash, whether brush, touchless or laser, or allowing a wax or sealant to be applied over the coating at one.
- Sale or transfer of the vehicle. This warranty is non transferable and can only be claimed by the original purchaser, on the vehicle it was applied to.
- Any misrepresentation made in support of a claim.
5. Making a claim
All of the following have to happen. A claim that does not meet them cannot be assessed.
- Notify us in writing within 14 days of first noticing the issue, at [email protected], quoting your warranty number.
- Provide dated photographs of the affected area.
- Provide what records you have of how the vehicle has been maintained since application.
- Present the vehicle to us at our Bentley Park workshop for inspection, at your cost, before any other person carries out any work on the affected surfaces. Once someone else has worked on the area we cannot assess what caused it, and the claim cannot proceed.
- We will inspect the vehicle and determine whether the issue is a failure of the coating or damage from another cause. That assessment is made in good faith by a certified applicator.
6. What we will do if a claim is accepted
Where we accept a claim, our obligation is to re-apply the coating to the affected panel or panels at no charge to you for materials or labour. We may re-apply to the affected area only rather than to the whole vehicle. Any re-applied coating runs for the balance of the original warranty period and does not start a new one.
This warranty does not extend to cash refunds or the value of the original job, repainting or panel work, loss of use, vehicle hire, towing or transport, diminished value of the vehicle, or any other indirect or consequential loss.
7. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. The benefits given to you by this warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under the law.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
This warranty is given by Posh Wash Pty Ltd, ABN 76 698 143 627, of Unit 7, 44 Supply Road, Bentley Park QLD 4869. Phone 0468 077 474. Email [email protected]. To claim, follow the steps under Making a claim above. You bear any expense of claiming under this warranty, including the cost of presenting the vehicle to us for inspection.
